Update: For the first time in 10 days, Arizona P Brandon Webb threw a baseball. After saying his arm felt "stagnant" on March 4th after a throwing session, Webb threw off flat ground today and felt good enough to try some breaking balls also.Manager A.J. Hinch was happy with what he saw. "Throwing a few breaking balls may not sound like big news, but it is to us. That means he's able to throw without reservation, and that's big."If his arm feels OK the D'Backs hope to see if Webb can throw off a mound within a week or so.Webb will no doubt open the season on the DL and continue to work his way to health.
Fantasy Impact:Webb will start the 2010 season on the DL. There is no timetable for his return, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks he should be good to go no later than late April-early May.Webb's arm and shoulder are fine. The problem he has now is being behind the other pitchers as far as game action is concerned.Webb could miss 3 to 5 starts to begin the season, so in the long run that's not too bad. Consider Webb as a late round addition that you will need to stash for a few weeks.
