Update: Vince Carter (G/F) is set to return to New Jersey tonight in hopes to spoil the Nets' home opener with his new team, the Orlando Magic. It's also a chance for Courtney Lee, Tony Battie and Rafer Alston to play against their old team.
Fantasy Impact: Vince Carter always managed to play extremely well against his first team, the Raptors, when he was in New Jersey. If he can burn the Nets like he used to do to the Raptors, then he is in store for a great fantasy night.
Update: Dwight Howard (C) and the Magic dominated the 76ers in their season-opener on Wednesday night. Howard scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while Philadelphia seemed to have no answer for his presence down low.
Fantasy Impact: Howard is a rebounding machine, and will be looking to lead the league again this year. He is a great asset for any fantasy team, as long as you aren't too worried about free throw percentages.
Update: According to the Orlando, Fla. (AP) — Vince Carter(GF) was 9 of 10 from the field and scored 26 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a 123-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night to cap the NBA’s only unbeaten preseason. The Magic (8-0) won their exhibition games by an average of 18 points. Carter, acquired in an offseason trade with New Jersey, made all five of his 3-point attempts. “If we are going to play for a championship, we wanted to hit the ground running,” Carter said.
Update: According to the Orlando, Fla. (AP) — Vince Carter(GF) scored 21 points and the Orlando Magic remained unbeaten in the preseason with a 117-87 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. Marcin Gortat(FC) added 15 points and Brandon Bass(F) had 14 for the Magic. Dwight Howard(C) had 14 points, but he continued to struggle at the free throw line, making only six of 16. He has shot just 50.7 percent from the line during preseason.
Update: The Orlando Magic had 7 players in double figures in their preseason win over the Bulls. Dwight Howard (C) and Ryan Anderson (PF) led the way with 18 points a piece. The Magic have yet to lose in the preseason.
Update: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jameer Nelson (PG) has no plans to change his style of play after getting injured last season. He missed the last 35 games of the year after he tore his labrum and had to have shoulder surgery, but says he knows no other way to play.
Update: The Orlando Magic lost power forward Tony Battie this offseason, but they brought in plenty. They now have Ryan Anderson and Brandon Bass to back up Rashard Lewis at power forward. This allows for the team to be a lot more versatile and makes them very deep.
Update: It's no secret that Dwight Howard (C) has had trouble from the free throw line in his career. He is constantly working hard to get better at them, but hasn't shown a ton of improvement in the preseason. He only made 4-8 from the line in Orlando's game against the Hornets last night.
Update: The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Mickael Pietrus (G/F) skipped out on offseason surgery on his wrist. The injured wrist cost Pietrus 12 games last season, but he claims that it's healing and feels ok.
Fantasy Impact: This is not news that any owners of Pietrus wants to hear, but it doesn't seem to be too big of a problem. I would be more worried about Orlando's depth, and wondering if Pietrus can get enough time on the floor to be a fantasy contributor.
Update: Ryan Anderson (F) started for the Magic in their preseason game against the Hornets and scored 22 points, hitting 6 three-pointers in less than 19 minutes.
Fantasy Impact: Anderson has looked stellar for the Magic throughout the preseason, and should be getting some minutes at the beginning of the season with Rashard Lewis suspended for the first 10 games. If he can maintain regular minutes, he will light it up from three-point land.
