Update:
Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton will be back for postseason, reports Mark Miller of Yahoo Sports.
Fantasy Impact:
Hamilton was having an MVP caliber season before his injury and looks to get back in the groove when heading into postseason. This has almost no fantasy value as the season ends but as the Rangers were struggling, Hamilton could help them make a push for the World Series.
Update: The Texas Rangers plan to activate Nelson Cruz (hamstring) off the DL on Monday, according to ESPN.com.
Fantasy Impact: Cruz had been doing a rehab assignment in Double A and was very productive. He should be back in the lineup right away.
Update: Texas Rangers have put Nelson Cruz (RF) on the 15 day DL with a strained hamstring. He sustained the injury while running bases, but the MRI shows no tears or potential threats.
Fantasy Impact: Cruz is a good defender and a solid hitter going .320 and with 16 HRs and 64 RBIs. He will be missed as an offensive force for the Rangers.
Update: ESPN is reporting that the Texas Rangers have placed RHP Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with right shoulder tendinitis. Harden was originally supposed to start Saturday.
Fantasy Impact: Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and Scott Feldman are options to take Harden's spot in the rotation for the time being.
Update: The Texas Rangers have signed outfielder Willy Taveras to a minor league contract, according to MLB.com. He will most likely see time in Triple A until the rosters expand in September.
Fantasy Impact: This is Tavaras' fourth team this year. He hasn't been able to stick anywhere after bouncing around the NL East, so there is no reason to believe he can make an impact for the Rangers.
Update:Tommy Hunter will lead off the second half charge for the Texas Rangers when they take on the Boston Red Sox next Thursday.Following Hunter will be Colby Lewis, Cliff Lee, C.J. Wilson and Scott Feldman.
Update: While the trade that will send 1B Justin Smoak to the Seattle Mariners hasn't even been officially announced,it is time to speculate on his replacement in Texas. The most likely answer appears to be former phenom Chris Davis. The 24 year-old left-handed hitter has been lights out down in Triple A since being sent down earlier this year.He is hitting .354 with 10 homers and 56 RBI since being sent down in late April.
Update: Cliff Lee is headed to the Texas Rangers in a deal that will bring four young prospects to the Seattle Mariners.Justin Smoak is a part of the deal, along with RHP Blake Beavan, RHP Josh Lueke and 2B Matt Lawson. The Mariners will reportedly pay around $2.5M of the remaining $4M that Lee is owed this season.A press conference is slated to begin at 3 to announce the details of the deal.
Update: Big Pitcher Cliff Lee has moved from Seattle to Texas in a big trade this afternoon. In addition to former Cy Young winner, the Mariners also gave up Mark Lowe (RP) and they received Justin Smoak (1B) and three other minor leaguers.
Update:Imminent seems to be the word of the moment when it comes to P Cliff Lee and the possibility of a trade. The Cincinnati Reds,Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees seem to be the three teams that are most in the mix.The Mariners have made it known they want top prospects for their rent-a-pitcher and it is thought the Reds have offered 1B Yonder Alonso and others. While the Rangers apparently have consented to add 1B Justin Smoak to their package. The Yankees are willing to send C prospect Jesus Montero to the Mariners for Lee.
