Update: The Dallas Stars were shutout by the Boston Bruins 3-0 Friday in Dallas. Goalie Marty Turco stopped 26 of 29 shots and played a solid game.
Fantasy Impact: However well a goalie plays, if the team in front of him can't score they're not gonna win. Turco played a solid game and has played better than his 1-1-3 record indicates, but there is still room for improvement.
Update: The Dallas Stars rolled over Nashville Wednesday night 6-0, and head coach Marc Crawford was happy with the team's play. "We really wanted to establish our presence here at home," said Stars coach Marc Crawford of only the second home game of the season. "I thought our guys were spot on early in the game, especially our top two lines. I thought they really established their dominance in the game."
Update: Stars forward Brenden Morrow had two assists in the game against Vancouver, but it wasn't enough as Dallas lost 4-3 in a shootout. He was also a +1, with 2 shots and 2 penalty minutes.
Fantasy Impact: Morrow is putting up points again this year after missing most of last year due to injury.
Update: Dallas center Brad Richards had an assist on the Stars' power play goal in the first and scored in the second, but was stopped by Roberto Luongo in the shootout and Dallas lost 4-3.
Fantasy Impact: Richards has scored in all of Dallas' game this year. He is showing why he won the Conn Smythe Trophy with Tampa in 03-04. Richards was limited to 56 games because of injury last year and he had 48 points.
Update: Forward Mike Ribeiro scored Dallas' first goal of the game and assisted on the tying goal, but he failed to score in the shootout as Dallas lost 4-3. He was a +1 with 3 shots and 2 penalty minutes.
Fantasy Impact: Riberio has point in 3 straight. He now has 2 goals and 3 assists on the season.
Update: The Vancouver Canucks scored on both of their shootout goals beating Marty Turco and Dallas 4-3. Turco stopped 22 of 25 shots in regulation and overtime.
Fantasy Impact: Overtime losses may count for a point in the standings, but they don't help fantasy owners. Dallas has lost all 3 of Turco's games in shootouts. Their only win of the season so far came thanks to backup Alex Auld.
Update: Forward Loui Eriksson scored to put Dallas up 4-2 in the third, they went on to win 5-2 adding an empty net in the final minute.
Fantasy Impact: Eriksson had a big year last season with 36 goals and 27 assists in 82 games. Dallas is counting on his continued development and fewer injuries to get them back to the playoffs after a disappointing season last year.
Update: Stars forward Mike Riberio scored the opening goal of the game and assisted on the second as Dallas handed Calgary their first loss of the year. He had 4 shots and finished a +2, but was 4 for 10 in the faceoff circle.
Fantasy Impact: Since coming over from Montreal a few seasons ago, Ribeiro has been a consistent performer for Dallas. Last season he had 78 points and so far this year in 3 games he has 3 points (1G, 2A).
Update: In their 5-2 victory, center Brad Richards scored an empty net goal and assisted on Loui Eriksson's third period goal. Richards also had 2 shots, was a +2 and won 10 out of 17 faceoffs.
Fantasy Impact: Richards was limited to 56 games last year, limiting his production. He probably won't repeat the 91 point season he had in Tampa. Hovwever, if he stays healthy he could provide 80 points, especially playing with Loui Eriksson who scored 36 goals last year
Upload: Auld, Dallas' backup goatender, made the start tonight for Dallas. He stopped 21 of 23 shots on way to the Stars first victory of the season.
