Update: It was only a Cactus League game but Angels reliever Scot Shields was nervous."I get nervous every time I pitch," Shields said. "I don't care where it is, what it is, I get nervous. But, there was a little something extra in there today." Shields was on the mound for the first time in a live game since last May before he underwent knee surgery. After A.J. Pierzynski lined his first pitched for a single, Shields settled in and retired the White Sox in order for a scoreless debut.
Fantasy Impact: Sure Shields was awful last season. The numbers don't lie, but for the 4 years leading up to 2009 Shields was among the elite relievers in the game. Four straight years of 30+ holds with low ERA and WHIP's made him a must own in leagues with reliever stats. He can probably be left undrafted in most leagues to start the year, but if he is healthy don't wait too long to add him to your staff. He could be a gold mine for relievers with the Angels and working as Brian Fuentes set-up man.
