Beat writer Tom Kowalski points out that Matthew Stafford is "on the fast track to become the Lions' starting quarterback when the season opens Sept. 13 in New Orleans."
Stafford has reportedly passed all tests "with flying colors," and the Lions now believe the No. 1 overall pick is even better than originally thought. Detroit is playing this cautiously -- and Stafford will be taking No. 2 reps at the start of training camp -- but the rookie has a realistic shot to beat out Daunte Culpepper.
This should be an interesting pre-season in Detroit.
