Update: Micah Owings knows he is in a tough spot with the Cincinnati Reds. He is one of a number of pitchers who are battling for the 5th and final spot in the Reds rotation.Today's pitching performance did not help in his quest for that spot.In two innings of work Owings allowed 3 runs on 4 hits against the Chicago Cubs.Since debuting with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007, Owings has deteriorated on the mound. His bat though has been solid, and if things continue to go downward for the 27 year-old righthander, it may only be a matter of time before some begin to think of him in Rick Ankiel terms.

Fantasy Impact:Unless there is some sort of miracle worked within the next 2 to 3 weeks Owings will open the season in the middle of the Reds bullpen. Leave him alone in all league drafts.
