According to the San Jose Mercury News, "Patrick Marleau won't have the "C" on his jersey when the Sharks open training camp next month.
"As of now," coach Todd McLellan said Monday, "nobody is our captain."
The soft-spoken Marleau has been San Jose's designated leader since January 2004. But when the Sharks failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs last spring after finishing the regular season with the Presidents' Trophy, locker room leadership and overall mental toughness once again came under fire.
