It needs to be made clear that Joe Dumars was one of my childhood icons. When I was a kid I watched Joe D lock down on Michael Jordan time and again and the Bad Boy Pistons remain the only NBA team to beat that was able to defeat Jordan in his prime.
After he retired from playing Joe D became the President of Basketball operations for the Pistons. It was Joe he got Grant Hill to sign a sign and trade deal that landed this club one Ben Wallace, who became a cornerstone of the going to work Pistons who won the 2003 NBA title.
