Update: It now seems that Daisuke Matsuzaka will not break camp with the Boston Red Sox when they head north to open the 2010 season. Dice-K was throwing a bullpen session today, when he suddenly walked off the mound after 5 pitches and ended his day. A Red Sox spokesperson said that Dice-K was suffering from a stiff neck. Add this to the sore back he has been battling, and the fact that he has yet to throw in a live game, and it is apparent that Dice-K will stay in Florida and try to rehab and gain his strength while his teammates open the season.
Fantasy Impact: Matsuzaka is beginning to look like too much of an injury risk to even bother drafting him at this point. Until he can show that he isn't so brittle he is only worth a pick as an injury risk sleeper.
