Update: Trevor Hoffman has been through a few spring trainings in his career, so it's no surprise that he hasn't thrown in a live game yet. Manager Ken Macha reports that Hoffman is experiencing some upper back soreness but that he is looking intense in his bullpen sessions. Macha doesn't feel as if it is a "pressing issue" to get Hoffman in a game anytime soon. The 42 year-old, all-time saves leader knows what it takes to prepare for the long season and there are few players in baseball who keep themselves in as good shape as Hoffman does every year. His off-season work-outs are still legendary in San Diego.
Fantasy Impact: Hoffman's day's as an elite closer are gone, but there are still few closers as reliable as Hoffman in the game.Having followed Hoffman his entire career the only thing negative I can say about him is he tends to falter when he comes into games with a multi-run lead. If it is a one run lead, there are few as reliable as Hoffman. With the Brewers, Hoffman is still capable of 35-40 saves and he is a nice pick after the top closers are gone.
