Update: Manager Don Wakamatsu of the Seattle Mariners is not the least bit concerned about the fielding struggles that have beset new Mariners 2B Chone Figgins this spring. After making 2 errors today, and now totaling 4 in 3 games,Wakamatsu blames most of Figgins problem on a hard-baked field."It creates speed so these guys kind of get in-between on balls,'' Wakamatsu said. "It just wants to kick up on them." In addition to his struggles in the field Figgins is hitting .063 for the spring.
Fantasy Impact: No worries. Figgins is a veteran and this is spring. By the time the season gets underway Figgins will once again take his place among the best at his position. Given that he will have dual eligibility at 2B and 3B his draft stock should be very high this spring.Look to grab him around rounds 6 through 8 in regular mixed leagues.
