MLB.com reports that the Braves will skip Kenshin Kawakami start on Saturday and instead wait until Tuesday's home game against the Mets to start him. He is dealing with a sore right shoulder. He received a cortisone shot on Monday which relieved the pain he felt after being rocked by the Reds on Sunday.
Kawakami pitched as a member of a six-man rotation when he was in Japan, and the soreness may be a result of pitching on shorter rest. Through 21.2 innings this season, he has a 7.06 ERA and a 1-3 record.
