Update: Earlier this week, Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen was named Baseball America's Rookie of the Year. McCutchen was more or less ignored by the media , probably because of where he plays, but baseball fans were aware of his presence and his accomplishments. In only 108 games for the Pirates,the speedy centerfielder put up across the board numbers. McCutchen, 23, hit .286 with 26 doubles, nine triples, 12 home runs, 54 RBI and 22 stolen bases.
