Update: ESPN.com reports New York Mets SS Jose Reyes has been told to rest and refrain from athletic activity for two to eight weeks until his thyroid levels normalize. This announcement comes after a confusing week for Reyes on whether he was cleared to play or not. "It doesn't look good right now. We will have to prepare for that," said general manager Omar Minaya. Reyes was limited to 36 games last season due to a hamstring injury.
Fantasy Impact: This definitely drops Jose Reyes' stock from a top-5 shortstop to a top-20 shortstop. Reyes isn't guaranteed to begin playing for two months, and that puts a huge dent into his value. Reyes' draft selection would be a high-risk, medium-reward outcome. Hopefully he can return as soon as possible, the Mets need him to.
