SF Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets has always been known as one of the NBA's best scorers since being drafted in 2003. He's just now starting to prove he's a true superstar, particularly in Fantasy Basketball.
Melo's the type of player who generally gets drafted in fantasy leagues higher than his true value, mostly due to name recognition. Until last season, he was criticized for not being able to lead his teams deep into the NBA Playoffs. Throughout his career, he's shown a knack for scoring in bunches, but the other parts of his game were inconsistent at best.
Now, Anthony's out on a mission to become one of the fantasy elite. He's doing the things to reach that status - rebounding, shooting almost 54% from the field, stealing the ball, hitting three's. If that's not enough, he's still scoring. In fact, he's dominating, averaging almost 38 points following Denver's first three games, constantly going to the free-throw line and knocking downhis shots.
His Nuggets teammates are referring to him as the best scorer in the game. His coaches are depending on him to take control of the locker room and lead his team back to the Western Conference Finals and beyond. His fantasy owners are hoping he can keep up the tremendous all-around play and put his name up there with the players annually selected in the first round of fantasy drafts.
At this time, Melo's achieving his goals, impressing his supporters and quieting the naysayers.
