Update: Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports that Baltimore Orioles’ starting pitcher Chris Tillman threw two perfect innings in his first action of the 2010 preseason.
Fantasy Impact: Tillman, 23, is a decent sleeper option on the mound this season. He’s firmly entrenched as the O’s fifth starter, and he’s got a ton of talent (he was, after all, a key piece of the Erik Bedard-to-Seattle trade a few seasons ago). He struggled in his first taste of the big-leagues last year, but 2010 brings renewed hope, valuable experience, and, now, a perfect start. He’s only getting drafted in about 25% of mixed leagues right now, so you should be able to hold off during the draft and just grab him off the waiver wire early in the year. He’s a low risk-extremely high reward guy, so make sure to keep an eye on him and pick him up after he reels off a few strong regular season starts.
